Best Ways to be an Avid Reader on a Budget
I can probably say that for many of us, being an avid reader definitely has its pro's, but it also has its cons; being the fact that buying a lot of books can be quite pricey, but who would want to give up books just so we can afford to eat this week? So in order to keep our wallets more full, I've come up with a few ways we can still have access to our favourite books without breaking the bank.
1. Libraries
Many of us have access to a Library in our area, whether its at your school or just a public library, most have a wide range of books to pick from. The plus is it costs hardly anything, for me it literally costs nothing to be able to read and borrow books, its a great alternative to buying them!
2. Secondhand Books
Of course I love having my own copy of books and having them on my bookshelf, so buying secondhand copies are a great option. Try thrift stores or online secondhand book websites such as World of Books.
3. Ebooks/Kindle Books
Electronic copies & Kindle versions are another great option and most are quite inexpensive, plus you don't necessarily need a kindle, just download the Kindle app on your device for free and buy your book, which most of the time will only cost you a couple of dollars depending on the book.
4. Book Depository
When buying books brand new, I always like to buy them from Book Depository, they're always a lot cheaper than other book stores and they have free shipping! You could even try Amazon.
5. Kmart/Big W (for Aussies)
If you didn't know, I'm Australian, and here we have Kmart and Big W (big department stores), which I've noticed they have a lot of great books available for reasonable prices, so if you live in Australia, definitely check out the books they have.
