REVIEW: Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon
Title: Olivia Twist
Author: Lorie Langdon
My Rating: 5 Stars
Category: YA Retelling, Historical, Romance
I have found my new found love! Olivia Twist was a exceptionally well written Oliver Twist retelling, which displayed a wonderful twist to the original story.
The plot was solid and was completely captivating and well paced, from the very first page, the story stole my attention.
The historical element in stories set in this time era is very important to me, and I wasn't disappointed, I was easily able to be swept away to that time, as if I was there with the characters, I could picture it quite well.
Olivia Brownlow (Twist) was a delight to get to know and follow around, she's a fierce, whole hearted and strong young woman. She was always putting others above herself and always thinking about the wellbeing of her uncle and the orphan children (which I adored them all to death)!
Jack MacCarron was everything I wanted, he had been through a lot growing up and had to thieve to survive on the streets. He's a strong and tough character, I loved getting to know his story and reasons behind his actions.
The romance was addictive and absolutely swoon worthy, its a big part of the story which I enjoyed reading about. Olivia and Jack's relationship was slow burning and had me reading into the late hours of the night. I loved the buildup and their cute scenes they had together, they were there for each other when needed, a perfect match for each other if you ask me.
- (Jack) " His past life as a thief may be over, but one of his biggest heists loomed before him - to win the prize of one brave, beautiful girl's heart. "
A certain plot twist had me stunned, I was not expecting it at all, it gave the story so much more and led to a wonderful and happy ending. I adored this book, I highly recommend it!
I love this Olivia Twist artwork!
