5 Best YA Contemporary Reads

Whether you like to read contemporary novels during the summer or love to enjoy them all year round like I do, I've made a list of some of my favourite Young Adult contemporary books you have to give a go.

1. Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

Letters to the Lost follows two teenagers, Juliet & Declan who both have their own battles to deal with, their story begins with Juliet, who is mourning over her mother, writes letters and leaves them at her mothers grave, and one day Declan finds one and responds. It's absolutely beautiful how we see two different characters coming together over losses.

2. The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Problem with Forever is a story about friendship, survival and finding your voice. Its been four years since Mallory's nightmare ended, and now starting a new chapter in her life and attending her senior year at a public school, she never imagined to see someone from her past, Rider, her friend and protector she hasn't seen in years. This story is an emotional roller coaster which will definitely bring a few tears to your eyes.

3. Long Way Home by Katie McGarry

Long Way Home is a companion novel and the 3rd book in the Thunder Road Series and my personal favourite of them all. I recommend reading the books in order if you want to.
This book follows 17 year old Violet who was raised around the Reign of Terror motorcycle club her father was apart of until he was killed carrying out Terror business. Violet wants to protect herself and her family so she cuts all ties from the club, including Chevy, the boy she's always loved.
I loved seeing Violet and Chevy grow and experiencing the friendships and relationships develop.

4. Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf

Allie's boyfriend Trip, dies in a horrible car accident and Allie has no memory of the event, she's afraid to remember her hidden memories and to come to terms with the reality of the abusive relationship she had with Trip. As the investigation goes on and Allie is looked on with suspicion, she turns to her best friend Blake, which their relationship begins to blossom into something more.
The progression of the story and the mystery element was both captivating and addictive.

5. The First to Know by Abigail Johnson

When Dana finds out she has a half brother thats only a few months older than her, and realising her father had an affair, she struggles with this new information and finds her relationship with her father drifting. Soon afterward, she meets Chase, her half brothers cousin, and they immediately hit it off. Dana must find a way to heal the breach and bring her family back together before everything totally falls apart.

Thats all I have for today, I hope you enjoyed & happy reading! Let me know if you want to see more YA recommendations.
